Le compte-à-rebours a commencé pour Oriental Empires, qui va sortir en accès anticipé le 20 septembre prochain, augurant une sortie définitive pour le dernier trimestre de l’année. Développé par Shining Pixel Studio, composé par deux anciens de Creative Assembly, le studio à l’origine du tout récent Total War - Warhammer, le jeu annoncé depuis le printemps de l'année dernière bénéficiait déjà depuis avril d’une phase de bêta-testing.

Le jeu se présente ainsi comme un 4X. Rappelons aux néophytes que cette expression est forgée par un journaliste en 1993 pour désigner le premier Master of Orion. Cet acronyme signifie « eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate ». En effet, vous vous retrouverez à la tête d’une des seize factions en pleine Chine antique. Il vous faudra dès lors à chaque tour explorer les alentours, vous étendre en fondant de nouvelles cités, exploiter les ressources locales pour approvisionner votre peuple en nourriture et en biens de consommation, et finalement vous battre pour établir votre hégémonie, et accéder au statut d’Empereur.

Avec ses airs de Civilization, Oriental Empires essaie de se démarquer avec son système de combat. Lorsque deux armées se rencontrent, tout comme dans un Total War, une bataille en temps réel s’engage, et il vous faudra gérer la tactique et la formation employée. Si la version bêta montrait des animations de combat un brin simplistes, elle avait déjà le mérite de présenter un arbre de technologies assez complet, un système de saisons et de dirigeants pour compléter l’expérience de jeu. Reste à voir si le jeu tiendra toutes ses promesses.

HISTORICAL TURN-BASED 4X PC STRATEGY TITLE TO BRING EPIC BATTLES TO ANCIENT CHINA

Haarlem, The Netherlands – August 30, 2016 – Iceberg Interactive, the publisher well-known for its love of 4x strategy titles, has today announced that the historical turn-based 4x title, Oriental Empires, will be available for PC via Steam Early Access on September 20, 2016 for $29,99. Created by industry veterans R.T. Smith and John Carline, both who worked on the original Total War game, Oriental Empires is currently in Closed Beta. Iceberg is anticipating a relatively short Early Access period of a maximum of 2 months, which will comprise of adding the multiplayer part, balancing and final polish as well as incorporating player feedback.
