XCOM 2 : screenshots et trailer pour War of the Chosen

Comme prévu 2K Games a sorti à l’occasion du salon PC Gaming Show une bande-annonce présentant War of the Chosen. Trailer survolté dans lequel on apercevra brièvement de nombreux extraits de ce qui semble être un joli menu pour un add-on qui va proposer un vrai contenu solide à se mettre sous la dent.

Au menu donc, des hordes de créatures zombiesques, humains ayant dégénéré suite aux dévastations des aliens. Mais surtout, trois factions, les Faucheurs, les Escarmoucheurs et les Templiers, groupes de combattants représentant la résistance humaine face aux envahisseurs extra-terrestres. Car on s’en doutait bien, il n’y a pas que Xcom qui se soit dressé face aux aliens.

Seul bémol, ces trois factions n’ont jamais pu s’entendre entre elles, et le but sera donc ici de les unifier. Les avantages à en tirer seront nombreux, avec par exemple des héros de la résistance, personnages spéciaux bénéficiant de puissantes nouvelles compétences.

Concrètement cela signifie que trois nouvelles classes de personnages viendront s’ajouter au jeu : le Reaper, une sorte de sniper ninja, le skirmisher, des aliens renégats, et les templiers, autrement dit un commando doté de pouvoirs psys.

Du coté des aliens ceux-ci auront aussi leurs champions, à savoir des Élus (nommés le Chasseur, l’Assassin et le Sorcier) dont le but est de s’infiltrer dans l’organisation XCOM et d’en kidnapper son commandant. Une nouvelle race extraterrestre dite Spectre fera aussi son apparition sur les champs de bataille. L’Advent recevra pour sa part en renfort des soldats du troisième type, dénommés Prêtres et Purificateurs. Que de réjouissances en perspectives, d’autant plus que l’on pourra batailler dans des villes en ruines, car une partie de la planète a été dévastée suite à l’invasion alien, ne l’oublions pas !

Sans surprise ce n’est vraisemblablement pas encore pour cette fois que le jeu nous emmènera dans les océans ou sur une autre planète, il faudra pour cela attendre un hypothétique futur XCOM osant s’aventurer plus loin encore.

2K and Firaxis Games announced today that XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen, the expansion pack to the 2016 award-winning strategy title, will be available for Windows PC, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One on August 29, 2017.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen greatly expands upon the XCOM 2 campaign. ADVENT, in its bid to recapture the Commander, has deployed a deadly new enemy force called the “Chosen.” To aid XCOM in its fight to liberate Earth, players will have access to three new resistance factions, each with their own Hero class. The expansion also includes other new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth of strategic gameplay.

Key features for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen include:

  • New Factions & Hero Classes: Three additional factions – the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars – each with its own Hero class;
  • The Chosen: A deadly new enemy force that will kidnap, interrogate and kill XCOM’s soldiers. They can even invade the strategy layer and ravage XCOM’s global operations;
  • New Alien and Advent Threats: Adopt new tactics to counter a deadly new alien known as the Spectre, the explosive attacks of the ADVENT Purifier, and the psionically charged ADVENT Priest;
  • New Environments and Mission Objectives: Players can engage in wide-ranging tactical missions, from abandoned cities devastated by alien bioweapons during the original invasion, to underground tunnels and xenoformed wilderness regions;
  • Enhanced Strategy Layer: Manage relations with factions while countering enemy operations from the Avenger;
  • Greater Customization & Replayability: Soldiers cultivate bonds with compatible teammates for new abilities and perks, while the SITREP system dynamically adds new modifiers to the tactical layer to make sure every missions provides a unique challenge;
  • Challenge Mode: New regular community challenges that rank players on a global leaderboard.

XCOM 2 is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and available for PlayStation®4 system, Xbox One and Windows PC. XCOM 2 is also available for Mac and Linux by Feral Interactive.
