Order of Battle – Morning Sun : premières images

Slitherine a mis en ligne quatre captures d’écrans montrant un aperçu des batailles que l’on pourra jouer dans Morning Sun, la prochaine première extension pour Order of Battle. C’est l’occasion de voir les unités nippones et chinoises en plein face à face, tel qu’il eut lieu lors de la guerre sino-japonaise qui se déroula en 1937, en préambule à une plus vaste offensive de l’Empire du soleil levant quelques années plus tard.

Si l’on attend toujours plus informations concernant de nouvelles mises à jour du joli et intéressant moteur de jeu de Order of Battle (le dernier petit patch datant d’octobre, voir ce changelog, toutefois le jeu devrait bientôt bénéficier d’améliorations conséquentes, par exemple un mode escarmouche, une option TCP/IP pour des connexions directes en multijoueurs, ou encore un mode d’affichage avec des pions classiques à la place d’unités en 3D), voilà déjà un add-on qui proposera de découvrir un des nombreux aspects moins connus du théâtre asiatique de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Quant à l’avenir de la série, après un rapide détour sur le thème de la Bataille d’Angleterre, sachez aussi qu’en théorie trois autres extensions sont actuellement en chantier chez The Artistocrats, l’une d’entre elles au moins semblant entièrement dédiée au Front de l’est.

You will have the chance to be immersed in the 1937 second Sino-Japanese War very soon as Morning Sun – the second expansion of the extraordinary wargame Order of Battle: Pacific – will  be released on January 28th!

In Morning Sun you will revive this undervalued conflict, taking control over the Japanese forces fighting for territorial expansion and rich Chinese resources.

Expect all of the fantastic features that made Order of Battle: Pacific one of the most innovative wargames recently made, plus a new array of possibilities, like the chance to employ cavalry units and invaluable Construction Group units!

New features

Construction Group unit allows players to construct small airstrips on locations of their own choosing.
Horses: These brave and loyal animals played a vital role in the war, and are now included in the game as part of Cavalry units and Horse Transportation.
New terrain types: Plow through muddy Rice Fields and fight along the Great Wall of China.

New units

Japanese armies have been reinforced with several new units including biplane fighters and bombers such as the Ki-10, D1A and A4N1, the Sōkō Sagyō Ki flamethrower-equipped engineering vehicle and Type 89 medium tanks. The Chinese rely heavily on foreign arms deals, resulting in a diverse arsenal made up from Soviet Polikarpov fighters, Tupolev bombers and T-26 tanks, German Panzer I’s, Sdkfz 221/222 armoured cars and 37mm PaK guns, Italian L3/33 tankettes, British Gloster Gladiators and many more. Nations now also have access to Cavalry units and Horse Transportation for towed guns. In total, almost 100 new unit types have been added to the game.
